Requirements for Major
- A minimum of eight units in history, including at least one unit in each of the four geographic fields:
- Africa/Asia/Latin America
- Europe
- United States
- World
- A minimum of two 300-level courses, including one unit selected from courses numbered HIST 370 to HIST 402 (excluding HIST 388 , HIST 389 , HIST 391 , HIST 392 ).
- A minimum of one unit selected from courses in pre-modern history (focused on the period before 1800). (HIST 102 , HIST 103 , HIST 111 , HIST 112 , HIST 131 , HIST 215, HIST 242 , HIST 251 , HIST 252 , HIST 290 , HIST 291 , HIST 333 , HIST 382 , HIST 383 )
- All history courses must be taken for a numerical grade, except those offered only on a credit/no credit basis.
- No more than two 100-level units may be counted toward the major.
- No more than one unit of HIST 391 , HIST 392 may be counted toward a major. Departmental approval is required.
Note: 300-level courses are open to sophomores, juniors and seniors.
