HIST 333: The Road to Revolution (1 Unit) Prerequisite: Enrollment in 300-level courses requires prior completion of a 100-level history course or above and at least sophomore standing. This course is designed to immerse students in the ideas and events that led to the American Revolution and independence from Britain. Through a variety of readings and activities, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the attitudes, cultures, tensions, and motivations of North America’s residents and British imperial officials in this period. After an in-depth investigation of the tensions rising from the end of the French and Indian War (1754-1763) and the emerging desire for separation from England, we will spend a portion of the semester engaged in a simulation game based in New York City.
