Introduction

The Center for Sustainability and the Environment (CSE), through its member students and affiliated faculty, aims to be a national model for sustainable and environmental engagement. With the continued growth of knowledge about environmental and social systems, CSE adapts its practices in support of current principles.   We recognize that as humans we are part of the natural world and have an interdependent relationship with it.  We have a responsibility to not only preserve natural resources, but to help them flourish.  We strive to address environmental problems by working locally with all stakeholders.  We center equity and belonging as an integral part of sustainability. We believe that all stakeholders possess the ability to learn and grow from each other, developing mutually beneficial partnerships on a path towards environmental wellness.

CSE welcomes students from all majors.  CSE students have wide-ranging interests in the natural world, the environment, and sustainability.

Admission—Students must apply for admission to the Center and the experiential certificates it offers. Normally this step is taken as part of the application process to the College, and most members are admitted as incoming students. Admission to the Center is also available, by application, to all first- and second-year Albion students. Visit the Center’s website for information on the application process.
