HIST 291: The Crusades

The Crusades, where Christian Europe invaded the Muslim Middle East, are far more complicated than just a war of religions. Learn how Muslims and Christians both fought and made peace, how Crusading zeal returned to Europe in brutal religious and political violence, and how the crusades widened Europe’s horizons and led to the explorations of Marco Polo and Columbus.  Discover how the Crusades continue to influence our thinking and conflicts today.
