SPAN 315: Narrative Arts in the Spanish-Speaking World: Textual Analysis and Interpretation (1 Unit) Proficiency Expected level of proficiency: SPAN 300 or SPAN 301 or equivalent, or permission of instructor. An introduction to the analysis, interpretation and appreciation of literature and cultural production from the Spanish-speaking world. Emphasis will be placed on short story, novel, theatre and film. Each analysis will include a detailed study of the work itself, and an examination of how the work is a product of and influences its cultural context. We will also introduce other critical approaches that are useful for a specific work, genre or subgenre. Conducted in Spanish. Staff.
