Professional Writing Minor

Requirements for Professional Writing Minor
Two foundational writing units:
One unit from the following list:
One unit from the following list:
Three professional writing units from the following list:
- At least two in ENGL and at least one at the 300 level.
One unit of practical experience, such as:
- An internship taken for credit – ENGL 391 (.5 unit), ENGL 392 (1 unit), or ENGL 394 (2 units)
- Pleiad Practicum – ENGL 104W (.25 unit), ENGL 204W (.5 unit), or ENGL 304W (1 unit)
- A thesis or directed study related to professional writing and approved by the department chair – ENGL 411 (.5 unit) or ENGL 412 (1 unit)
- Practical experiences may be repeated for credit or combined up to a full unit (1.0) of the minor.
NOTE:
- The Professional Writing Minor is not available for student with and English, Professional Writing emphasis. Nonmajors and all other English majors are eligible.
- A course may fulfill only the “Foundational Writing Unit” or “Professinoal Writing Unit.”
- Practical experiences may be repeated for credit up to a maximum of two units applied toward the minor.
- Students interested in media, broadcast, or journalism should consider the suggested media emphasis:
- Choose for your two foundational wrting units:
- Choose for at least one of your three professional writing units:
