Categories of Emphasis:
Six units total from the following three categories with at least one but no more than three courses in each category. If students choose to take three courses from a single category, at least two courses must be at the 200-level.
Experiential Requirements:
● Departmental Colloquia: All environmental studies majors are required to attend departmental colloquia regularly. In these, students who completed research projects, service projects, internships or field experiences the previous semester will report on them, and other items of general interest, such as graduate schools and careers, will be discussed.
● Completion of at least one of the following:
○ An environmental research project, service project or internship. Students should have prior approval of the department chair, and must make a presentation in the colloquium and submit a reflection summarizing the experience based on departmental guidelines.
○ E&E 272: Ecology and Environmental Field Trip (1/2 Unit)
○ ESP 318: Sustainability Projects (1/2 Unit)
Notes:
● The core courses and categories of emphasis courses must be taken for a numerical grade.
● This major may not be elected by environmental science majors or environmental studies minors.
