Requirements for Accounting Major (9.5-10 units)

All courses for the major must be taken for a numerical grade.

A Minimum of 9.5 or 10 Units in Accounting, Economics, and Management, Including:

E&M 101: Principles of Microeconomics (1 Unit)
E&M 102: The Economy and Financial Markets (1 Unit)
E&M 211: Financial Accounting (1 Unit)
E&M 212: Managerial and Cost Accounting (1 Unit)
E&M 311: Intermediate Accounting I (1 Unit)
E&M 312: Intermediate Accounting II (1 Unit)
E&M 313: Federal Income Taxation (1 Unit)
E&M 316: Auditing (1 Unit)
E&M 317: Accounting Information Systems (1/2 Unit)
E&M 310: Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting (1/2 Unit)
E&M 314: Advanced Taxation and Corporate Transactions (1 Unit)

E&M 315: Advanced Taxation (1/2 Unit)

The Following Cognate Areas Must Be Completed for a Major:

The Economics & Management Department requires students to show proficiency-level equivalent to MATH 120 (College Algebra) to earn a major or minor in the department. Should a student test into MATH 100, that student must take BOTH MATH 100 AND MATH 120 to fulfill the cognate requirement. Should a student test into MATH 120 or MATH 127 (Trigonometry), the student can take the respective course to fulfill the cognate requirement. If a student tests into MATH 141 (Calculus I), MATH 143 (Calculus II), or beyond, proficiency will be met, thus fulfilling the MATH 120 cognate requirement.

MATH 120: College Algebra (1 Unit)

MATH 127: Trigonometry (.5 Unit)
It is recommended that this math cognate be completed in students’ first or second semester at Albion College.
