English Literature Minor

Two literature units:

• One unit numbered ENGL 120 to ENGL 186 or ENGL 220 to ENGL 286
• One unit numbered ENGL 220 to ENGL 286

Two writing units (with “W” suffix)

• One unit of either ENGL101W, College Writing or ENGL 102W, Honors College Writing
• One unit of your choice numbered ENGL 200W to ENGL 219W

Two student-choice units:

• One unit numbered ENGL 300 to ENGL 386 (with or without “W” suffix)
• One unit numbered ENGL 320 to ENGL 386 (without “W” suffix)

Notes:

1. All courses for the minor must be taken for a numerical grade.
2. Directed Study or Special Topics courses may be used to fulfill major requirements with permission of the department chair.
3. Students with advanced placement in English or who place higher than ENGL 101W and ENGL 102W on Albion College’s writing placement exam can substitute a writing unit (“W” suffix) of their choice at the 100 or 200 level to fulfill the ENGL 101W or ENGL 102W requirement for the minor.
4. English Literature minors with Education Concentration are required to take ENGL 203W in place of the 200-level writing elective (“unit of your choice”).
