IDY 230: Advanced Praxis in Writing Consulting

Prerequisities: IDY 130 or permission of instructor
This course engages student in discussion of recent scholarship from Writing Center Studies–including research conducted and written by undergraduate scholars–in journals such as Praxis, The Peer Review, The Writing Center Journal, and WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship. Along the way, students will reflect critically on specific tutoring strategies and purpose additions or changes to standard practice in the Albion College Writing Consulting program. By learning to analyze the complex roles of social inequity, cultural norms, and institutional structures in the completion of writing tasks, students in this class further develop their own skills as writers, writing consultants, and campus leaders.
