ARTH 309: Art & Empire in the Long 19th Century

This course presents students with a critical survey of art from the “long” nineteenth century–that is, art, architecture, and visual culture from roughly 1789-1914 (between the French Revolution and the start of World War I)–through the conceptual lens of empire.
