HIST 311: The Holocaust: History and Memory (1 Unit) Prerequisite: Enrollment in 300-level courses requires prior completion of a 100-level history course or above and at least sophomore standing. This course will study one of the most important events of the twentieth-century: the Holocaust. We will discuss the development of modern antisemitism, the rise of fascism and Hitler, the evolution of Nazi Jewish policy, the mechanics of the Final Solution, the experiences and responses of the victims, and the post-war attempt to deny these unparalleled crimes through traditional judicial procedures.
