EDUC 304: Teaching for Understanding in a Diverse World: Assessment, Curriculum and Standards in the Pedagogy of English as a Second Language

Prerequisites: EDUC 195   or EDUC 202   and permission of department. Supports students with a minor in teaching English as a second language. 
This course advances students’ understanding of the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) and its connection with English language learning in the classroom context. Assessment, curriculum, and standards in relation to teaching English as a second language are examined carefully and critically. A wide range of cultural, linguistic, psychological, and social processes that are at the basis of language learning and acquisition, and current research findings are highlighted. Staff
